Some dogs have important jobs, work they do every day or from time to time – sheepherding, search and rescue, leading the blind, locating truffles, bomb detection, protection work – but every dog can learn to do something useful, to fetch the socks the kids (and adults) have left all over the house, to bark when the mail person arrives or, in order to be really helpful, they can learn to help with the dishes.
Here’s how: At the end of dinner, place your plate on the floor, saying, “Prewash, good dog, prewash.” It’s so nice to have a dog around the house.

I agree completely.
I’m here in the house after the four day weekend of controlled mayhem with the husband and the boys all home with me. Today it’s just me and the dogs in a quiet house. It would be far too quiet if I couldn’t hear Jett the Labrador snoring in his bed or Jacob the mega-mutt’s collar clicking when he scratches.
